Tortuga Lodge & Gardens Overview

Families, couples, single travelers, and groups of friends will all find Tortuga Lodge a comfortable and friendly place to stay while exploring the natural wonders of Tortuguero.

What to Expect at Tortuga Lodge & Gardens

  • It's and adventure to get there. Getting to Tortuga Lodge is an adventure because there are no roads in or out of Tortuguero. You can either fly in and take a boat across the river or arrive by boat after traversing rainforest rivers and canals.
  • To be surrounded by nature. Tortuga Lodge sits on the Tortuguero River, surrounded by lush rainforest. The principal sounds you hear at Tortuga Lodge come from monkeys, birds, frogs, and insects.
  • Meal-inclusive. Because of its remote location, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the daily rate. This is not an all-inclusive resort, and alcoholic drinks are not included.

What Not to Expect

  • TVs and A/C in rooms. Tortuga Lodge & Gardens is all about nature. The lack of TVs and A/C reduces abnormal noise and helps you gain a more profound rainforest experience.
  • Easy access to the outside world. It's possible to get over to the village of Tortuguero to eat in a restaurant or do some shopping, but it's not as easy as a simple walk. You need to get a boat to get anywhere around here.

An Adventure Is Arriving and Departing

It's a remote part of the country, Tortuguero, tucked away in the far northeast, surrounded by vast rainforests and the Caribbean Sea. Getting here is an adventure in itself, as there are no roads. Instead, you need to fly in from San Jose on a puddle jumper or take a boat through the rivers and canals of the Tortuguero rainforest.

To Be Surrounded by Nature

Despite the remoteness of Tortuguero, you'll find yourself in an upscale, comfortable ecolodge with 29-rooms. Each room at Tortuga Lodge comes equipped with A/C (2 rooms have ceiling fans), hairdryers, wifi, safes, and terraces to sit outside on and enjoy the sounds of the rainforest. In addition, the property’s on-site amenities include a fabulous spa (You can also request in-room spa services), a refreshing pool and jacuzzi, and kayaks for you to take out onto the river and explore.

Meal-Inclusive

Because of remoteness and difficulty, daily a la carte meals are included in your stay. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon coffee with a homemade pastry. You'll find your meals at the on-site restaurant, the Green Turtle. The plant-based menu at the Green Turtle will take your culinary experience to a whole new level. Non-vegetarians need not fear - meat is on the menu at this riverside restaurant with sweeping rainforest views.
