<h2><strong>The White City”&nbsp;</strong></h2><p>Historically, Liberia was called “The White City” because its homes and churches were painted with natural white limestone, the sandy roads were white, and even the people dressed in all white to beat the heat. There’s a 200-year-old Guanacaste tree in the city's center, so that’s how the people of Liberia describe the area. Today, the tree’s canopy spans 120 feet, providing shade for the park, and its trunk measures 15 feet around.</p><h3><strong>Shopping Time</strong></h3><p>You’ll see a church built in the 1800s, a school from 1904, and some heritage houses.
