Lagarta Lodge is an elegant boutique hotel situated beside two rivers, expansive sandy beaches, and lush woods in the beach community of Nosara, on Costa Rica's the Nicoya Peninsula. The Nosara area of the Nicoya Peninsula is famous for being one of the world's few "blue zones," areas where people generally live for a long time. Blue zones tend to have more people living over 100 years than other places due to good diets, healthy living, and general quality of life. For this reason, Nosara is perhaps one of Costa Rica's more wellness-inspired communities, attracting tourism businesses and hotels with that mindset. Lagarta Lodge is one such hotel.

The Swiss-owned and Costa Rican-managed Lagarta Lodge is one of those hotels that puts its money where its mouth is when living up to community responsibilities. It puts a percentage of its room rates to local conservation and education programs and seeks to preserve local indigenous peoples' culture and art. Lagarta Lodge counts sustainability, social responsibility, art, and culture as its core values.

Lagarta Lodge's 36 rooms (26 junior suites and ten suites) feature natural color schemes, elegant furniture, and ocean views. They're all tastefully decorated with original artworks and come with A/C and fans to cool off. To underscore the hotel's environmental commitments and preserve aesthetic harmony, the rooms at Lagarta do not have TVs. Wifi is available, however, throughout the hotel, and each room comes with a tablet for guests to view hotel information and tours.
There are two infinity pools overlooking the ocean and an adult-only jacuzzi at Lagarta Lodge for guests to enjoy. And also a tower with a mirador overlooking the sweeping coastline for those Instagram moments. With two pools for such a small hotel, guests can always find a peaceful spot to relax and watch those legendary Nosara sunsets.
The on-site restaurant, Chirriboca, offers one of the best dining views in Nosara and serves up a thoughtful menu of healthy, locally-sourced food. The Sunset Bar is a perfect place for afternoon cocktails. Nosara is also home to several different restaurants, so guests can feel free to explore and check them out for lunch or dinner. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate at Lagarta Lodge.

True to its wellness-inspired philosophy, the hotel's Spa Vista Manglares complex offers guests a range of personalized treatments and yoga, surrounded by giant trees and mangrove forests.
You’ll find plenty of beaches in Nosara. Playa Pelada is closest around 10 to 15 minutes away. Guiones, home of Costa Rica's best surf and sunsets, is also near. The hotel offers shuttle services to local beaches for guests who don't want to walk.
