What Not to Expect
- TVs and A/C in rooms. This place is all about reconnecting with nature, so there is no TV in the rooms. The area has a cooler climate, so A/C is not a necessity. However, all the cabins do come with WiFi so you're not totally isolated from the world.
- Pool area. In Monteverde, a swimming pool isn't needed: fireplace, yes; pool, no. The Cloud Forest Lodge's sister hotel, the Monteverde Lodge & Gardens, has a pool guests can use if they want to. It's nearby in the village of Santa Elena.

Enjoy a Cabin in the Cloud Forest
The Cloud Forest Lodge is right outside the village of Santa Elena, close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Monteverde is one of Costa Rica's original eco-tourism hot spots, and one of the most well-known. If you want to lose yourself in nature, this is a great place to do it.
This 25-room boutique eco-lodge sits far enough outside of the village to feel remote and surrounded by nature, while close enough for guests to enjoy the restaurants and atmosphere of Santa Elena. Being surrounded by nature is even easier in this hotel because Cloud Forest Lodge sits on its own private cloud forest reserve of 23 hectares. Fun fact: it is also home to Costa Rica's original cloud forest canopy tour!
Each of the rooms comes in a cabin style. They're wooden rustic on the outside and clean and modern inside. All the cabins come with expansive terraces to relax and enjoy the sounds of the forest. Each cabin has a variation of bed combinations (kings, queens, twins) to suit different group dynamics and offer other amenities to make the stay even more comfortable. A/C is not needed in Monteverde, and at this hotel, neither are fans. So rooms don't have any.

The on-site Endémica Restaurant offers a wonderful dining experience in Monteverde. The chefs use organic, locally-sourced ingredients to create healthy dishes with a flair. Although not a vegetarian restaurant, Endémica prides itself on its plant-based dishes.

Due to the cooler climate in Monteverde, the Cloud Forest Lodge does not have a swimming pool. However, the hotel has a sister property close by in Santa Elena. The Monteverde Lodge & Gardens has a solar-heated pool that guests from the Cloud Forest Lodge are welcome to use.
