Perfect For:

If you need a beach resort full of activities and nightlife, the Osa Peninsula isn't for you. But if you seek nothing more than pure nature and rainforest, then you'll find your perfect retreat at Aguila de Osa.

What to Expect at Aguila de Osa:

  • Adventure and Activities Galore: Not only is Aguila de Osa's jungle location perfect for nature and hiking in pristine, primary rainforest, it's also great fishing and diving location for people who crave getting out on the ocean.
  • Rustic Luxury In the Rainforest: They may not be the lap of absolute luxury, but the rooms and suites at Aguila de Osa are more than enough to offer their guests a comfortable time amid hardwood decor and tons of space.
  • A Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included at Aguila de Osa due to the relative remoteness of the lodge. Alcoholic drinks are not included, however.

What Not to Expect:

  • Access to Restaurants and Bars: There's not a great deal of nightlife and entertainment in Drake Bay. So you're most likely eating at the hotel always.
  • Tvs in Your Room: Aguila de Osa is about returning to nature, which means no TVs. There's the internet, though!
  • The Height of Luxury: Aguila de Osa is a beautiful hotel and one of the best eco-lodges on the Osa Peninsula. It is more of a rustic luxury than a luxurious luxury.

How to Get There

Aguila de Osa is reachable mainly by boat. You can walk along a jungle trail from Drake Bay, crossing a cool bridge over the river, but you won't - not with your luggage. So a boat it is, which is reason number one why this is an excellent eco-lodge to check out. However, the adventure starts before you arrive!
You'll get there from Drake Bay Airstrip, where they'll pick you up from your flight and take you to the beach to hop on your boat. Or you can take a longer boat ride from Palma Sur. Either way, it's an adventure getting here to an eco-lodge that's all about the experience.

Rustic Luxury in the Rainforest

Aguila de Osa’s property sits on 28 acres of protected rainforest. The hotel’s 11 guest rooms and two suites sit on lush, green slopes overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the offshore Caño Island.
The guest rooms highlight Aguila de Osa's rustic style, with natural hardwood furnishings and basic amenities like ceiling fans, minibar, and warm showers. Be aware the rooms have no TVs or A/C. Aguila de Osa is about connecting with nature. The way the rooms are constructed allows breezes to flow, negating the need for A/C in any case.
Rocking chairs and hammocks line the patios with the most stunning ocean and jungle views. If connectivity is essential during your stay, complimentary WiFi is available in the rooms, the main rancho, and the restaurant area.

A Meal Plan

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included at Aguila de Osa. Eating here is a fascinating experience, as they try to create a communal experience where guests eat together, get to know each other, and swap stories. Cocktail hour before dinner is a highlight for many, with music, appetizers, and beverages. Then, everyone gathers together to share the day’s exciting encounters. Any dietary restrictions or food allergies can be accommodated with notice to the hotel staff. Their homemade bread is a favorite of ours!
