Best Time to Travel

The best time to travel to Bagaces is during the dry season (from December to April) to get the most out of your trip. It will rarely rain during the dry season, and all the rivers and streams and hiking trails will be in optimal conditions.
The rainy season is better to avoid due to hard rains that may get in the way of doing outdoor tours such as zip-lining and water tubing.

Bagaces is a tiny town where everyone knows each other; little to no crime happens in Bagaces; as with any place in Costa Rica, we recommend storing valuables such as passports, expensive jewelry, and other valuable items.

Top Restaurants in Bagaces

The town of Bagaces is full of what Costa Ricans know as “Sodas,” which are small informal restaurants that offer typical Costa Rican dishes at a reasonable price. These sodas serve foods such as casados, gallo pinto and more. They are a great way to see the culture and cuisine authentically. Fine dining can be found at Rio Perdido, where you can find healthy organic options. You are also bound to run into fruit stands around town where you can buy a coconut for close to nothing and " Copos," a sweet ice cone-type treat.
