Start with a scenic
drive along the Pan-Am Highway to
the mountain town of El Valle de Anton. El Valle is the crater of a dormant volcano,
the largest in Central America.
This
picturesque, cool climate valley rises 600 meters above sea level. This small town has a great
variety of attractions such as Indian petroglyphs, hot springs, waterfalls, rock
climbing and a hiking trails.
The tour continues with a visit to the ancient petroglyphs of the El Chorro Macho Waterfall and a trip to the Nispero
Gardens and Zoo where you can observe the rare “golden frogs”.
El Valle has a very different climate,
topography and vibe than the rest of Panama. Many Panamanians who live in Panama
City have weekend homes in The Valley, so there has been a local tourism
industry here for years. The cool air, pine trees and misty air cool fool one
into thinking they're in Europe, not Central America. It must be seen to be
understood.
