Panama's name in the local native tongue literally translates to "abundance of fish".  The deep sea fishing right off the shores of Panama City's Pacific Coast is among the best in the world.

Fishing in Panama is seasonal, yet there is no bad season, just different types of fish.  In our summer months (December-May) the seas are flooded with pargo (red snapper), mero (grouper) and amberjack. The ocean temperature drops during these months and the bottom dwelling fish will move to the surface and hit surface lures. The hottest part of the pargo season is February through March.
